Have you ever been asked what’s your leadership style?
Have you ever been asked to embrace a particular style of leadership?
It has happened to me several times and it continues to happen.
Leadership is not style. It’s presence!
Style is external and as such “easily” adopted or shed. It’s learnt through an handbook or a business case. Presence, instead, is internal and it’s cultivated in silence and sharpened through uncertainty.
To me the real question has never been “What shall I do as a leader?” but more importantly “Who am I being as I do it?” Our motto at ReNEWBusiness is “What we do depends on the quality of our being”. What we do flows from the depth of our being. Leadership is not taught, it’s touched.
Leadership is not a skillset you download. It’s a becoming.
Yet, too often, we mistake information for transformation.
If your leadership program feels heavy with content but light on meaning.
If content is louder than deep.
If it neglects the space for reflection, the time for dialogue, and the necessity for silence.
Then it's not developing leaders. It's producing performers.
If you, like me, are interested in moving from performance into presence, and in rethinking leadership as a creative practice, I invite you to consider Artful Entrepreneurship programs designed to honour people. It's not about what's efficient to deliver. It is about what's essential to become.
Our minds are full, but our souls are empty. Drawing in lots of information but starving for transformation. In the rush of our roles, we lose the sacred pause where learning becomes wisdom.
